Roberts & Co, Attorneys at Law, Donate to Care Project

It has become a tradition of Roberts & Co, Attorneys at Law, for the staff and the law firm to donate to a charitable institution at the end of each year.  The Care Project, located at the old Holberton Hospital compound, was selected as the charity to receive the Roberts & Company’s donation for the year 2018. The sum collected from members of staff was matched by Roberts & Co and was used to purchase as many as possible of the items on a list provided by the matron of the project.

Sir Clare K. Roberts, QC, Founding Partner of Roberts & Co, along with CEO/Administrator, Lady Alice Roberts, and four members of staff, Ms Melissa Davis, Ms Clovis Grant, Ms Nekisha Hazlewood and Mrs Amsha-Ann Pierre made the presentation to the Care Project. The donation was accepted by the Matron of the Care Project, Mrs Juliet De La Bastide, and the Operations Manager, Ms Shenneth Weathered.   The Matron of the Care Project expressed her gratitude to Roberts & Co for the donation, stating that it was much needed and would go a long way. She lauded the generosity of the staff and the law firm and hoped that other organizations and indeed the public would follow the stellar example and support the Care Project.  After the presentation, the Matron and Project Director conducted an eye-opening and heart-tugging tour of the facility.

Sir Clare Roberts assisting St. Kitts and Nevis to draft new Labour Code

Our very own Sir Clare Roberts, KCN, QC,  was in St. Kitts and Nevis to meet with stakeholders in the field of labour as efforts to reform labour administration gain momentum.

Below is a section from the article published in St. Kitts and Nevis Observer.

Sir Clare arrived May 15, 2018 and got straight to work the following morning, paying courtesy calls on Governor-General His Excellency Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton at Government House, as well as Senior Minister and Minister of Labour the Honourable Vance Amory at Government Headquarters. Later that day, Sir Clare had his first working meeting with union officials, who represent workers across various fields in the twin-island federation.

Thursday’s agenda included meetings with employer representatives as well as public sector officials, while today is marked by discussions with a wide group of stakeholders. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour Ron Dublin-Collins noted that the arrival of Sir Clare as a consultant marks another milestone in the government’s labour reform agenda.

“At this stage, it means that our agenda is well underway to become a reality in terms of [establishing] a new labour code,” he stated, adding that numerous consultations have been held with members of the National Tripartite Committee and other partners. “Over the past 12 or so months, we have advanced our discussions, moved the agenda forward, and it has resulted in a decision to have this consultant.”
